I’m Justin Chen, founder of WATOBE and an art educator with more than a decade of teaching experience. Over the years, I’ve worked with students of different ages and backgrounds, and I’ve come to believe that one of the greatest challenges in learning art isn’t a lack of creativity — it’s a lack of meaningful, personalized guidance.
That’s why I created WATOBE: to make professional art education more accessible, regardless of where someone lives or what resources they have. But as WATOBE grew, I realized that access to lessons was only part of the challenge. Learning art also requires something much harder to provide at scale — personalized feedback.
That insight led WATOBE into its next chapter. By combining years of art teaching experience with AI-assisted visual analysis, we are developing WATOBE AI Art Coach — a platform designed to help learners understand their artwork, identify areas for improvement, and receive more personalized guidance on what to learn next.
You don’t have to be an artist to create art. You just have to start.

WATOBE is an art education platform that brings together professional teaching experience, digital learning, and AI-assisted technology. Our goal is to make high-quality art education more accessible while giving learners something traditional online courses often cannot provide — personalized guidance on their own artwork.
From structured online courses to AI-assisted artwork analysis, WATOBE is building a connected learning experience where students can learn, practise, receive feedback, and understand their progress over time. Technology does not replace the role of art education — it helps make meaningful guidance available to more learners, wherever they are.
